The rockslide that has closed the Sea to Sky Highway south of Squamish has unfortunately derailed two arts and cultural events set for the long weekend.The inaugural Water Woman Festival was scheduled to take place starting today (Aug. 1) until Monday (Aug. 4) at the Squamish Valley Campground has been relocated to the Lions Park in Garden Bay on the Sunshine Coast.The event, which was ironically relocated from the Sunshine Coast to Squamish before this week's rock slide, focuses on sacred music and art, healing ceremonies and workshops, Water Woman has been "birthed to celebrate the divine feminine in both men and women, unity consciousness, and water as life," according to organizers.Inspired by the arid, fiery Burning Man festival that takes place annually in the Nevada desert, many creative thinkers have conceived of its counterpoint, Water Woman, to be held in the moist coastal rainforest of 小蓝视频 The line-up for the four-day festival includes local and international performers, workshop presenters, and ceremonial leaders. Julie Blue, a Vancouver musical favourite, will perform in her trademark interactive style as well as lead a workshop, "Singing from the Soul." Those who are still interested in attending will have to make their way to Lions Park at 3776 Highway 101 at Garden Bay (see page A3 for details on travel out of Squamish), about an hour north of the Langdale ferry terminal. The Paperboys, the popular folk-rock combo, were planning their second concert of the year at the Brackendale Art Gallery tonight (Aug. 1) at 8 p.m., but unfortunately the rock slide has forced the event's cancellation.
