Young local singers, dancers, instrumentalists and thespians will take centre stage next week at a concert to raise money for Sea to Sky youngsters pursuing an education in the performing arts.
The Spirit of Squamish concert, planned next Friday (Nov. 2) at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre, is being staged by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association to raise money for the AME (Access Music Education) fund, a bursary program for local youngsters in grades K-12 seeking the further their training.
Past recipients of the AME award will be among the performers at the event. Emma Pedersen, winner of the 2011 Star Showdown at the Pacific National Exhibition, is a past award recipient and performer at the annual event.
Since its inception in 2005, AME has awarded more than $20,000 to more than 30 local students. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to the AME fund.
