The Squamish Arts Council has a few new faces to present to locals as it announces its board of directors for 2009-2010.
Following organization's Annual General Meeting on April 21, five new directors were elected for one-year terms. This brings the total number of directors to 13, up four from 2008-2009.
"I'm very pleased with the election outcome and look forward to working with everyone," said Krisztina Egyed, who continues as Squamish Arts Council (SAC) chair.
"The work of the past SAC board has established an engaged arts community, and we are now perfectly poised to continue building on our past accomplishments with an eye to the future."
SAC's work to date includes the establishment of the Artisan Gallery on Second Avenue, representing the local arts community with government, such as protecting and providing input on the development of local viewscapes, presenting an All Candidates meeting during the recent municipal election, arts community co-ordination through initiatives such as the April 2009 Squamish Arts and Culture group meeting and the Sea to Sky Corridor economic Impact study of the arts and culture, and renovation of the SAC building for community use.
Along with Egyed the council includes vice-chair Maciek Walentowicz, secretary Leslie Ford, treasurer Paul Hudson and members Eric Andersen, Linda Bachman, Zoe Evamy, Angela Heck, Jane Iverson, Erica Pelletier, Susan Remnant, Martin Thorne and Rick Toews.
The Squamish Arts Council is a not-for-profit umbrella arts organization with a mission to enhance quality of life in the Howe Sound area by promoting and fostering arts and culture.
