The auditions are all done and now it's time for the cream to rise to the top at the Squamish Idol event on Saturday (Sept. 14).
Pavilion Park will be transformed into an outdoor concert hall and some of the top singing talent in Squamish will battle head to head for a $500 prize.
The free event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a performance from Squamish Nation Welh Tima Kexwusem Dance Group. They'll be followed by a showcase for competitors aged 15 and under and then the 16-and-up adult category, where the winner will receive $500 and community bragging rights.
The event is presented in partnership with the Squamish Academy of Music and the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association, along with the District of Squamish. Squamish Idol was created to be linked with the Downtown Squamish Summer Series as part of the Downtown Squamish Transformation Initiative.
