The rarest breed: a fun hangover

The Hangover Director: Todd Phillips Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis Rated: PG Running time: 105 minutes

What we have here is a "bachelor party gone wrong" film. Yes there enough of them for this type of film to be it's own category. Of course it belongs in the larger category of "wild party gone wrong" comedies.

These types of films are generally funny or awkward and unmatchable and are never a sure bet. Thankfully this is one of the better ones.

For starters, this one involves an unstable man with an infant in Vegas. Ordinarily that kind of comedy could head into very uncomfortable territory.

The film starts with the soon to be married Justin Bartha off to do the traditional bachelor party thing in Vegas. Along for the journey are his two friends, the straight-laced dentist and the party boy teacher.

And what boys' night out movie is complete without the fat guy? Here we have a very good one played by the wonderfully unsettling and bearded Zach Galifianakis. Actually, Zach is definitely a stand out character in this film.

So the boys have some shots on the roof then fade to morning when there's a tiger in the washroom, a baby on the floor with chickens and groom is missing. From there it's a what-the-hell-happened quest, which makes for a half decent way to string together some fairly funny situation comedies.

The way I see it, every summer needs a decent lowbrow comedy and this one will do just fine. High praise when the adds make it look like nothing more than "Dude, where's my groom."
