There is a total whiteout expected at Chances Boardwalk Casino tonight (Nov. 19) but a warm winter coat isn't necessary.
It's the first ever White Party and organizer Craig Davidiuk is encouraging all party attendees to don white clothing and enjoy a vast array of bass pounding music.
The White Party will feature two different floors of music as the Short Circuit stage, which is located on the lower level of Chances, will be hosting a number of local DJ's.
The spinning will begin at 8:30 p.m. and continue all the way until close with five different DJ's rocking the house.
According to Davidiuk, there was a lot of interest from local DJs to get involved with the White Party and he think it's good to see younger DJs get a chance to entertain.
"We had just a groundswell of interest from locals to spin," he said. "It seems like everyone's got a favourite local DJ and it's great for newer talent to get this type of experience."
On the second floor, House Haus stage will be for the more established DJs. Davidiuk himself, along with DJ Sneaky Bastard and the Mavens will be spinning. Davidiuk said he's pleased with the talent he managed to bring in for the White Party.
"Sneaky Bastard has played in San Francisco and also the Burning Man festival this past summer," he said. "But the highlight could be the Mavens who will be spinning four tables at a time."
The Mavens, who are comprised of Andrea Graham and Shelia Cassels, concentrate on a heavy bass sound.
Sandwiched in between Sneaky Bastard and Craiger, who both concentrate on more house style music, Davidiuk said the Mavens should be fun to watch perform.
He added that he is expecting about 100 to 150 people to take part in the event and tickets are available both at the door and at the Trinity Romance Shop and cost $10.
It's the second time that Davidiuk has put together an event at Chances and he said it's a great venue for a number of reasons.
"The response to our last party [Afterburn] at Chances was amazing and we expect the same from the White Party," he said.
Davidiuk also pointed out the convenience of the Chances shuttle, particularly in the face of more stringent drinking and driving laws.
"The shuttles are the best thing to ever happen to parties in this town," he said.
"It helps people get home safe and there's no more waiting for cabs. It's not like there's buses that run late here and cabs can be expensive for people already buying tickets and drinks to our event. I really think the availability of the shuttle helped boost attendance at Afterburn."
The White Party is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and lasts until 2 a.m. tonight (Nov. 19).
"I'd just like to see people support a local party and have fun," Davidiuk said.
