The one amenity Squamish most clamours for is now under construction.
Garibaldi Five Cinemas is expected to start showing films in October. When the doors open, some of the first films to hit the big screen in Squamish will include Shark's Tale and What's It All About Alfie.
According to Marshall Smith of Resort Cinemas of Whistler, October isn't a big month in the movie industry; however, November is a different story and he expects that when November's blockbusters are expected to debut, all the bugs will be worked out of the new facility in Squamish.Smith told The Chief that the five theatres will hold varying numbers of viewers.
"There won't be much difference in the number of seats in each," Smith said. "They will all have over 100 seats to a maximum of 160 seats."
The theatre was originally to be open this summer; however, delays in the design process set the schedule back.
