The best thing about the last two Twilight films is that they were so appalling it gave me a chance to tout the great teen vampire story that is the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series).
However, this time things are very different.
Oh sure this ridiculous vampire franchise continues to pander to the millions of fans, but this one is different because the world now has a whole new brilliant vampire story, True Blood. If you haven't yet you should see this TV show - bloody brilliant.
This movie however is not brilliant. First of all people should be beaten and thrown in prison for calling this a vampire movie. Vampires have depth because they have a down side - they explode painfully in the sun.
In Twilight the worst thing they have to worry about is their pasty white skin glittering in the sun. That's not being a vampire that's being British.
To be fair this movie is the best so far but that is hardly a glowing review. The action has been stepped up but the majority of the film continues to focus on the girl who wants a vampire wedding but is being stalked by a cheesy werewolf.
I haven't read the books and understand they are entertaining but Jacob (the shirtless buffoon) has to be one of the worst written characters in history.
Will the fans like it? Oh, probably since this entire exercise is designed to suck cash out of the humongous fan base. But if you're being dragged to this you should make that person promise to watch True Blood with you.
