Two girls, one couple

Halfway through Francis Ha, I found myself searching for this feeling that I've felt and seen this type of entertainment before. Then - wouldn't you know it - Adam Driver ("Girls") shows up and I thought, "Ah-ha. That's it, and it is all right.

Halfway through Francis Ha, I found myself searching for this feeling that I've felt and seen this type of entertainment before. Then - wouldn't you know it - Adam Driver ("Girls") shows up and I thought, "Ah-ha. That's it, and it is all right."

What we have here is the classic story of a 27-year-old trying to figure out her life while she struggles in New York - a story that's as old as time, or at least as old as Woody Allen.

With a film shot entirely in black-and-white, Greta Gerwig brings most of the charm to the table in a script she co-wrote with director Noah Baumbach.

We start with two lovely BFF's (really? I've come to the point in my life where I would actually type that? I suppose I come by it honestly). The friends are living the "just getting by while waiting for their big break" dream that is New York City. The two, played by Gretta and Miskey Sumner, are a perfect pair. As a classic line states, they're "like an old lesbian couple that no longer has sex."

From there, life happens and what follows are the ups and downs of circumstance and relationships that everyone eventually faces. Thankfully, the writing, direction and acting work well together for a good time had by all.

Wonder what the aimless 20-somethings are up to these days in New York? Here's a good chance to catch up. Francis Ha is currently available on DVD and therefore everywhere online. Enjoy.
