A few years ago, Western civilization took an unprecedented leap. It happened during the invention of the wheel and again during the renaissance.
But the world was rocked to its very core when all of a sudden there was an entirely new way to be entertained. Not happy with simple comedies, action and drama films, the world now had zom-rom-coms.
That's right, zombie romantic comedies. Shaun of the Dead and Fido showed us the very funny side of zombies. Since then there have been other attempts, but with fairly ho-hum results. Now we have the third best zom-rom-com ever made with Zombieland.
The plot in 10 words or less: nerd, redneck and two grifter sisters in a zombie apocalypse.
Jesse Eisenberg (the Michael Carrera-act-alike who was in the last playland themed movie, Adventureland) is the nerd who survived the apocalypse because he never left his house. The always-wonderful Woody Harrelson is the redneck with a broken heart and an unhealthy Twinkie obsession.
They quickly run into the grifter sisters and head to a southern California theme park that is (probably for legal reasons) not called Disneyland. Oh and not to give too much away but there is a cameo in this film that is bloody hilarious.
I could go on about this film, but there isn't much point. Let's face it, if you are still reading this review you will like this film because who are we kidding, everyone else stopped reading at the word Zombieland.
