Below are the Squamish RCMP incidents released to the media for the week of Dec. 13 to 19, 2022.
Large collision on Highway 99
Late on Dec. 17, a crane truck driver hit a barrier, resulting in a collision with another vehicle while also losing a large weight in the incident.
The collision occurred just north of Lions Bay on Highway 99, say police, and emergency services and Miller Capilano also responded. One of the passengers in the car that was struck had facial injuries from airbag deployment and was treated and released from the hospital.
Man swings rod-like object at cars on Highway 99
On Dec. 16, the police received numerous reports of a man swinging an object at cars on Highway 99.
Fortunately, police say no person or property was hurt or damaged by the incident. The police located a known person who they believed to be the culprit but did not have sufficient evidence to arrest him.
Police ask that people continue to report it, if similar events happen in the future.
Mountain bike theft
Police say that two mountain bikes were stolen from a van overnight on Dec. 18.
Each bike was valued at about $12,000 and were described as a green, Rocky Mountain Altitude with orange forks and a purple Kona Process with other components from Rock Shock.
Car from car-share service has tires slashed
On Winnipeg Street in downtown Squamish, police say that a car had all four tires slashed between Dec. 12 to 15.
The car was parked in a designated spot and belongs to a car-share service.
Police say that this is not the first instance, as a car from the same service had its four tires slashed in late November.
