Stong’s Market will unveil a Squamish location in the spring of 2024, with delivery options to hit as soon as this fall.

In a news release, Stong’s Market announced its third location will open in downtown Squamish. Jo Dellesalle of Delesalle Projects Ltd. confirmed to The СÀ¶ÊÓƵ that the independent grocery store would be opening where Zephyr Cafe is currently located on Cleveland Avenue.

Zephyr will close permanently after Sept. 25.

“We understand the importance of our local communities and becoming an integrated part of the places we call home. With our commitment to supporting local vendors and unique fresh offerings, Squamish is the ideal place for our newest Stong’s Market,” said the president of Stong’s, Brian Bradley, in a release.

“The Stong’s proposal made the most sense simply because they've got a degree of local connectivity,” said Dellesalle. “At the end of the day, I think that it's going to be a very, very good fit.”

The release says the Squamish location will begin construction in November with a grand opening scheduled for March 2024. Additionally, Stong’s online grocery delivery will serve the community as soon as November.

Those familiar with Stong’s may question how a store could fit into that space yet Stong’s release notes the Squamish location will have “a much smaller footprint” and “focus on convenience” with meals to go, deli, produce and some florals and gifts.

“We are excited to be opening our third location as a new concept for Stong’s,” said Bradley.

Dellesalle added he believed it could help cater to the influx of new residents downtown and complement the nearby businesses.
