The Sea To Sky Midget Hawks played back-to-back games in Vancouver on Sunday (Jan. 25). In the morning they were up against the Seattle Snokings at the Great Pacific Forum. The Snokings ended up scoring in the third period to win 1-0 over the Hawks. Both Kevin Smillie and Mike Vanzella had really strong defensive games for the Hawks.
After a quick bite to eat the team headed to New Westminster for their next game. This was also a very close game that ended in a 7-7 tie. Nick Johnston led the way in goals for the Hawks, scoring a hat trick. Troy McLean found the back of the net twice. Adam Reid and Kevin Smillie each had a goal. Kevin also contributed with a number of assists during this tight game.
The Hawks next game will be against Hollyburn on Wednesday night in Whistler.
Meanwhile, the Squamish PeeWee Eagles are at home this weekend against the Sunshine Coast. The Eagles are starting to think about getting into playoff mode as the playoffs are scheduled to begin Feb. 6.
Squamish's three ringette teams are all in action this weekend also.
The Novice B team is at home against the Burnaby Snow Cheetahs at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31). Howe Sound is looking to avenge a 10-7 loss to the Burnaby team back in December. According to the league statistics, the young team from Squamish has a record of 3-2-1.
The Tween B team from Squamish will take to the ice after the novice game. The tween game will feature Howe Sound versus Vancouver. This will be the first regular season match between the two teams.
Squamish's Open Division team has back-to-back road games Sunday and Monday. The first game is against Burnaby and the second against the North Shore.
