TORONTO — Alphonso Davies and Shelina Zadorsky have been named Canada Soccer’s players of the month for February.
Bayern Munich's Davies became the first Canadian to win the FIFA Club World Cup title while Zadorsky played every minute of Canada's campaign at the SheBelieves Cup.
Davies started in Bayern's wins over Egypt's Al Ahly SC in the semifinal and Mexico's Tigres in the final in Al Rayyan, Qatar.
In Bundesliga play, the 20-year-old from Edmonton scored to help league-leading Bayern rally to a 3-3 tie with Arminia Bielefeld, He also played in Bayern's win over Italy's Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
Zadorsky anchored the Canadian defence at the four-country SheBelieves Cup in Orlando. The 28-year-old from London, Ont., who plays her club football for England's Tottenham, partnered with several younger centre backs in the absence of veteran Kadeisha Buchanan, who remained with her club Lyon in France.
