Fire marshal investigating explosion that injured two, damaged homes in N.W.T. town

HAY RIVER, N.W.T. — An explosion in the Northwest Territories has left two people injured and several homes damaged. The town of Hay River says the explosion happened at a home in the Beaver Crescent area Saturday morning.

The town of Hay River says the explosion happened at a home in the Beaver Crescent area Saturday morning.

Homes in the area were evacuated as emergency responders provided medical and fire support services. 

Two residents have been treated for non-critical injuries.

Nearby homes that suffered damage, including broken windows, are being repaired.

The fire marshal's office is investigating and the cause of the explosion has not been confirmed. 

Propane and power distribution services to the home where the explosion occurred have been disconnected.
