Two women, one man dead after building fire southwest of Montreal

MONTREAL — Three people are dead after a fire in a residential building in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que., southwest of Montreal. The victims include two women in their 50s and a man in his 70s.

MONTREAL — Three people are dead after a fire in a residential building in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que., southwest of Montreal.

The victims include two women in their 50s and a man in his 70s.

Quebec provincial police say the fire broke out around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The victims were taken from the burning building and transported to hospital, where they were declared dead.

Police say firefighters successfully put out the fire.

An investigation is underway, and police have not yet said what caused the fire.
