The province is putting СÀ¶ÊÓƵ real estate regulators under the microscope.

It’s a move that’s likely to have local relevance — it’s no secret that Squamish’s real estate market has been considered to by many to be white-hot for some time now.

The review will examine the roles and responsibilities of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia and the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate.

Real estate agents must be licensed by the former to practise in СÀ¶ÊÓƵ

The latter organization is an arm of the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ government tasked with protecting consumers who are buying, selling or renting a home

Topics under review include the appropriate structure and composition of the regulators, how they should communicate, mechanisms for resolving disputes, and how to divide responsibility for matters such as licensee qualifications and rule making.

The review will provide recommendations to the minister of finance by June 15.
