One day after the 小蓝视频 government gave the Haisla First Nation's $3 billion Cedar LNG project the green light to proceed, federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault has followed suit with a federal stamp of approval.
The Cedar LNG project in Kitimat was reviewed under a substitution process, in which the 小蓝视频 Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) was the lead government agency conducting an environmental review.
Substitution is used to avoid duplication of processes when a project is required to go through both a federal and provincial environmental review.
On Tuesday, the provincial ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy , and today Guilbeault also approved the project, with a finding that the project "is not likely to result in adverse direct or incidental effects as defined under section 2 of the Impact Assessment Act."
The federal approval comes with 250 conditions for the life of the project.
