“Until your hands don’t work, you don’t realize how important they are,” explains Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist, Céline Cantin, the
first Certified Hand Therapist in the Sea to Sky and owner of two clinics dedicated to helping people restore function in arm and hand injuries.

Her team in Surrey and Squamish treat many conditions – from broken bones, ruptured tendons, nerves, to loss of function from chronic arthritic diseases. About half of her clients have a workplace injury.

“Some people have severe traumatic injuries. We’re there to support them and in some cases help them adapt to the new norm for their hand,” says Cantin. “We support them from day one until they are back to the hill, to work or strumming their guitar.”

Cantin has restored the grip of many athletes, including professional snowboarders and mountain bikers.

She opened her first clinic in Surrey ten years ago. As a skier, the goal was always to operate a clinic in the Sea to Sky. Now she’s proud to employ six certified hand therapists across two clinics.

“It’s so empowering. When younger, I never thought I’d own a business, but I came to realize that there really is no limit. There are so many entrepreneurs here, and it’s very motivating to see everyone take control of their destiny.”

And for those adventurous locals launching themselves right into a broken wrist or injured finger – Alpine Hand Clinic is here for them to get their grip back!
