Canada's Dabrowski, New Zealand's Routliffe out of Japan Women's Open after walkover

OSAKA — Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand's Erin Routliffe are out of the Japan Women's Open tennis tournament. Spain's Cristina Bucsa and Romania's Monica Niculescu advanced to the final on Thursday by way of walkover.

OSAKA — Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand's Erin Routliffe are out of the Japan Women's Open tennis tournament.

Spain's Cristina Bucsa and Romania's Monica Niculescu advanced to the final on Thursday by way of walkover.

The fourth seeds were supposed to play the top-seeded Dabrowski and Routliffe in the semifinals.

Bucsa and Niculescu will next face third-seeded Ena Shibahara of Japan and Laura Siegemund of Germany in the final.

Dabrowski and Routliffe defeated Japan's Shuko Aoyama and Eri Hozumi in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday to advance.
