Squamish police briefs

11 vehicle crashes over one shift. $75,000 fraud. Three bikes stolen. Winter tire check of 312 vehicles.

Here are the crime briefs the Squamish RCMP released to the media for the week Dec. 20 to 26.
 

Crashes

Police responded to 11 vehicle crashes on one shift amidst a snow, rain and cold-weather snap on Dec. 24.

During the same timeframe, officers also received three reports of road rage and drivers passing when unsafe.

Fraud

A representative from a local business reported a nearly-$75,000 fraud  onDec. 21. 

A bank contacted the business to inform them of the fraud, and all three — the business, the bank, and the police — continue investigating or assisting with the investigation.

B&E and theft

Three bikes were stolen after three suspects broke a window at a bike store in the 40100 block of Glenalder Place.

Police say the incident occurred on Dec. 26 between 11 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

RCMP say they have various avenues of investigation left with this matter and continue following up. 

Squamish winter tire check

СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Highway Patrol Squamish did a winter tire check, stopping 312 cars in 1.5 hours on Dec. 23. All vehicles had winter tires.
