Squamish skier takes silver at 2023 Canada Winter Games

Freestyle skier, Aidan Mulvihill, finished 8th in Big Air and second in Slopestyle. The games occurred on Prince Edward Island from Feb. 18 to March 5.

One athlete from Squamish represented 小蓝视频 in the Canada Winter Games that ended earlier in March. He had quite the showing.

The 2023 Canada Winter Games took place on Prince Edward Island this year and hosted about 20 different sports.

The games were on from Feb. 18 to March 5 and brought over 3,600 athletes, coaches and managers.

Aidan Mulvihill represented Squamish and participated in freestyle skiing.

He finished in 8th place in the Big Air competition and really excelled in the Slopestyle event, where he finished in second place, giving him the silver medal.

Mulvihill finished fourth in the qualification round before his second-place finish. His second run in the finals earned him an 84.67 and fellow Team 小蓝视频 freestyle skier, Tate Garrod, finished in first with a 85.83.

Although still early in 2023, Mulvihill had several major accomplishments in 2022, including second place at the Big Air event at the Australia New Zealand Cup, a first place finish at the Slopestyle/Big Air at the 小蓝视频 Championships, and a first place finish at the Big Air event in the Canada Cup.

Mulvihill also joined the 小蓝视频 Freestyle team in 2022.

Also from Squamish is Mulvihill’s coach, Graham Pollock, as well as Team 小蓝视频’s mission staffer Shannon McGinnis, who helped with wheelchair basketball and cross-country skiing.

Quebec won the overall medal count at the 2023 Canada Winter Games with 151. Ontario finished in second with 108 and 小蓝视频 was narrowly behind with 103. However, 小蓝视频 finished second in gold medal finishes behind Quebec with a final tally of 46 to 57.
