WINNIPEG — Forward Kevin He has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Winnipeg Jets, making him the first Chinese-born player to sign an NHL contract. The Jets announced the deal Tuesday.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats hired Brent Monson as their defensive co-ordinator Tuesday. Monson, a Hamilton native, joins the Ticats after 15 seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, the last six as their defensive co-ordinator.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Rise have added a Canadian forward to their roster, signing Jessica De Filippo. The 23-year-old from St. Lazare, Que.

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Brayden Pachal to a two-year contract extension with an average annual value of US$1,187,500, the NHL club announced Tuesday. Pachal has a goal and an assist in 31 games for the Flames this season.

Midfielder Duncan McDonald has been named Canada Soccer’s 2024 Para Player of the Year. The 24-year-old from Powell River, СÀ¶ÊÓƵ, played every minute at the 2024 IFCPF World Cup in Spain, where Canada finished 12th.

LONDON — Canadian Jim (Gentleman) Long lost his first-round game at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship on Tuesday, beaten 3-0 by England's James (Hillbilly) Hurrell.

OTTAWA — Defensive lineman Deionte Knight was among four Canadian players signed by the Ottawa Redblacks on Tuesday. The six-foot-three, 278-pound Knight split last season between Toronto and Hamilton.
